Choreography for Actors Clinic on Monday, January 9 from 7P to 10P  (Location TBD)

The Programming team approached Kathryn and asked her to put together a clinic that would address the actor who needs to dance, particularly in an audition situation.  Below is what the clinic will include…

  • help to remove some of the fear of dance
  • basic steps for musicals and plays alike
  • some partner dancing- waltz/polka/maybe a little tango
  • some good ideas for stretch and strength
  • a whole lot of laughing

Hi All,

The company I work for, Signature Theatre Company, is accepting internship applications for the Winter/Spring. With the new expansion there are many more available positions, including one in my department, Literary. Below are the descriptions for the Literary and Artistic internships. At this time, we are only hiring for full-time. Please forward this around to interested students or departing interns at your organizations looking for more experience, or anyone smart and amazing who is looking for more experience on the administrative end of things:

ARTISTIC INTERN:

The Artistic Interns assist the members of the Artistic Department with the management of all creative and administrative aspects of producing the season. Two full-time positions are available each semester. Responsibilities include:

General administrative assistance for the Artistic staff Assisting with the updating of Artistic calendars and documents Assisting with the organization and upkeep of all Artistic files and archives Availability for all rehearsals, tech rehearsals, and preview performances for line running, on-book duties, and creative team assistance Assisting in the preparations for and execution of supplemental programming and in-house Artistic events at the Signature Center Providing assistance as needed for Signature’s Playwrights-in-Residence Completing research as needed Covering readings and performances throughout the city on behalf of the Artistic department

*Please note that the work schedule for the artistic internship will likely be irregular and include evening and weekend hours.

Candidates must have a strong theatre background. Must have excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as strong computer and organizational skills.
Please submit a non-creative writing sample and references along with your application.

LITERARY INTERN:

The Literary Intern assists the Literary Director, Literary Associate, and Literary Fellow with all aspects of managing the Literary department. Responsibilities include:

Writing for Signature’s Magazine, multimedia and other lobby displays, website and other supplemental materials Maintaining the script database Assisting in supplemental programming events Reading and evaluating scripts Covering outside productions Maintaining Playwright-in-Residence research archive Assisting with production dramaturgy Supervising scripts throughout rehearsal process Copy-editing Managing Literary Office archival material

Candidates must have a strong theatre background. Must have excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, as well as strong computer and organizational skills. Please submit a non-creative writing sample and references along with your application.

Required Qualifications include an appropriate terminal degree in Theatre or Dance, teaching experience, and creative/scholarly achievement to warrant a tenured appointment. Prefer experience administering nationally accredited Theatre and Dance programs in the context of an urban research institution, extensive scholarly/creative record, and qualifications sufficient for appointment as tenured Professor. Casting for Screenplay Reading

Hi Sandbox Artists!

I’m casting a Script Reading Workshop of a new screenplay called Grace O’Malley and need 5 men, between the ages of 22-58.

The workshop is tomorrow: rehearsal is 1-6pm with the public reading at 7pm. Directed by John Jacobsen of The Film School. Venue is Odd Duck Studio.

This is a perk of SAG membership so only submit if you are a SAG member.
