Watching National Theatre of London shows in Seattle

Uncategorized

From Larry Moss in L.A. I’m wondering if we can get something like this going in Seattle…

Hello all,

Today’s paper has an article in the “D” section about how London’s National Theater is now broadcasting their plays live around the world for audiences in certain movies theaters.

This is a rare chance to see London theatre without leaving L.A. and the review of the quality of the plays was sterling.

Go to the National Theatre Home page:

And you can sign up for Emails alerts. Prices are reasonable and you can keep up with the London Theatre scene without having to fly to England.

Next season’s offerings are: HAMLET, FRANKENSTEIN, THE CHERRY ORCHARD, FELA!

and A DISAPPEARING NUMBER.

Check it out….Hollywood’s best kept secret!

I looked into this a bit: you need the particular kind of equipment to show the live film. As it stands, the closest theater showing these is in Mount Vernon! Or Port Townsend! Shocking that Seattle doesn’t have a venue.

Do you think SIFF Cinema would have the technology? They have done live feeds with film directors before.

Worth a trip to the Lincoln Theater, yes? Has anyone contacted them?
